▢8 pounds bone-in spiral-cut cured ham ▢2-2½ cups packed brown sugar divided ▢1 cup pineapple juice ▢¼ cup pure maple syrup (not artificially flavored pancake syrup)
Coat the slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray before using. While cut side down, place the ham in a greased slow cooker.
After distributing 1 cup of brown sugar evenly over the ham, drizzle it with pineapple juice and syrup.
Cook for 3–4 hours on low heat. Transfer any surplus liquid from the slow cooker to a vessel. If desired, adjust the amount of brown sugar to a higher degree (1–1½ cups) if the ham should be sweeter.
When the liquid reaches a rolling boil, remove it from the fire and pour it over the ham. Cook for an additional 30–60 minutes over moderate heat.
Remove the liquid from the heat once it has reached a rolling boil, then distribute it over the ham. 30–60 minutes should be added while cooking over moderate heat.
